Alumina or aluminum oxide (Al2O3) in its various levels of purity is used more often than any other advanced ceramic material. TopTek offers a wide range of material types with different property profiles that can be adjusted via a targeted matrix design.

 Alumina ceramics(Al2O3 ) has high electrical insulation, corrosion resistance against both acids and alkalis, and abrasion resistance. This fine ceramic is utilized in diverse fields including machine parts and electronic equipment parts.

97% Alumina
High quality Alumina ceramic of 97.0% Al2O3 content. This material is an excellent electrical insulator that can be metallised to facilitate high-temperature brazing of assemblies.

97.5% Alumina
Fine grain Alumina ceramic of 97.5% Al2O3 content. A high quality material, widely used for electrical and mechanical components that require thick film metalizing, as well as for dynamic duties where resistance to abrasion and chemical attack are essential.

99.5% Alumina
Alumina ceramic of 99.5% Al2O3 content. This material is extensively used for applications that require exceptional electrical resistance combined with resistance to chemical attack. This ceramic can also be metallised.

99.8% Alumina
High purity Alumina ceramic with a minimum purity of 99.8% Al2O3 content. Specifically developed for semiconductor processing applications, it has high resistance to semiconductor etch chemistries and has superior mechanical wear resistance.

99.9% Alumina
Alumina ceramic of 99.9% Al2O3 content. A high purity material used for the highest integrity applications where one, or a combination, of its exceptional mechanical, electrical, thermal or corrosion resistant properties is essential.

99% Alumina Materials
99% Pure Alumina, manufactured under the trade name of Hilox 991 is also offered by TopTek. Frequently,99% Alumina, high purity Alumina is used in the production of wear resistant components as it has been developed explicitly for chemically and physically abrasive environments. These components include shafts, plungers, bearings and counterface seals in applications where chemically and physically aggressive media feature. These components are used in the manufacture of products such as circulating pumps, reciprocating pumps and resonator supports.
TopTek utilise ceramic injection moulding, and precision grinding to produce complex components that require exacting surface finishing and flatness. Our manufacturing processes are capable of low to high volume production.
Such components are used frequently within the water management, medical, automotive, telecoms and household appliance applications. Alumina has a high  melting point, high hardness and high mechanical strength, although  mechanical strength is reduced at temperatures above 1000°C. Due to the  relatively large coefficient of thermal expansion, thermal shock resistance  is reduced.

99% Alumina Applications
Alumina is the most mature of the engineering ceramics, offering excellent electrical insulation properties together with high hardness and good wear resistance but relatively low strength and fracture toughness.

Different Types of Alumina
Aluminas are generally white but are sometimes pink (88% alumina) or brown (96% Alumina). The colour is derived from either the sintering additives or impurities in the raw materials.
